Set in the heart of Tekapo, within easy walking distance of the lake front and village centre, Araki is a renovated older ‘kiwi bach‘. Upstairs is an open plan kitchen, dining and living area, opening out to a very sunny north facing deck where you can enjoy lake and mountain views. The modern, fully equipped kitchen has all you need to prepare your holiday meals to share around the dining table, including a Nespresso! There is also a small BBQ available.
The upstairs living area has ample seating to relax in, with a flat screen TV, Netflix and a selection of books to enjoy. As well as a heat pump there is a “potbelly” log burner. The lower level offers a master queen bedroom has its own ensuite, while the other 3 rooms share a second bathroom. Relax in the sunny new second living area downstairs with a log fire – perfect for the kids! A Tesla electric vehicle charger is available for use in the garage.
By prior agreement Araki also welcomes well-behaved dogs so your whole family can enjoy the break (not fenced). See our FAQ’s for more details.

We had a fabulous stay here. The house is so comfortable and cosy and just like I remember my childhood holidays in kiwi baches. The sofas are huge and there are loads of them. Everything had a well loved and comfy vibe. Well stocked kitchen and loads of easily accessible firewood. When we had trouble understanding the tv someone was over helping us within five mins, even though it was a Sunday night. We highly recommend this cosy kiwi holiday home.

Great place. Well located for village centre but also quiet and secluded. Good space and facilities downstairs. The upstairs kitchen and lounge are really cosy in a fabulous retro ski lodge style with a great log burner. It’s a lovely place to stay. The guys at the rental office were very friendly and helpful.

Awesome place to kick the feet up for a couple of cold nights. Everything was awesome. The pot belly fire got us nice and cosy. We were able to bring our dog. And they even sent someone down in the morning to give us a jumpstart. Thanks very much.

Great stay and right next to downtown! Was able to walk everywhere and enjoy our stay. House itself was perfect with tons of space and nice bathrooms.

Very charming location and stay. Woke up to snow which was magical. A short walk to the main restaurants and cafes. Very comfortable for a group of six. Thank you so much!
