Connemara Retreat
Tucked away on a quiet street just 15 minutes walk to the lakefront & Tekapo village, Connemara Retreat has a lovely open, sunny living area with heat pump, log burner and great mountain views. Step outside onto the large, sheltered deck—the perfect spot for après-ski drinks, al fresco dining, star-gazing or simply putting your feet up and enjoying the peaceful surroundings. The living area features a heat pump and log burner, creating a warm and cosy space to relax after a day exploring. A well-equipped kitchen has everything you need to prepare an easy breakfast or feed the troops after a big day on the slopes. Alternatively, wander into the village centre to experience one of the wonderful local restaurants. All three bedrooms are furnished with warm queen beds. One has its own ensuite, while the other two share a spacious bathroom with both a shower and bath—perfect for a relaxing soak after a day of adventure.
The fully fenced property is great for young children, and active guests will appreciate the generous storage space underneath the house for skis, bikes, kayaks and other recreational equipment. A heated linen cupboard and super-efficient log burner are particularly handy during winter, making it easy to dry and warm your gear after a day outdoors. With three local ski fields all less than an hour away, Connemara Retreat is an excellent base for winter adventures. Whether you’re chasing fresh powder on the slopes, exploring Tekapo’s walking and biking tracks, or simply enjoying the spectacular alpine scenery, you’ll have a warm and comfortable home to return to.

From the very beginning to the end, this experience and stay was lovely. Easy to follow instructions, clear communication, warm and cosy place! We did find the water a little touch and go (very sensitive to tap movements) and preferred the shower in the main bathroom to the ensuite, but just a minor comment, and would happily recommend this place or stay again! We even got a little snow play in the back yard. Thank you!

Ideal location for our travelling party – we were intown for a Tekapo Ice Hockey Tournament. This location was spacious, comfortable and the perfect staging area for us to rest and recover between match days. Highly recommend this place and will be keen to book again if we play the event in the future.

This is the most amazing place to stay that we all agree on! You can park 1-2 cars outside the house, but you need to drive carefully because it’s a gravel road. The space inside the house is surprisingly large. In each room, you can fully open your suitcase. All the utensils you might need are provided, and there are enough heaters, even in the bathroom. It’s very dark around at night, and you can see the Milky Way very clearly from the balcony. The only drawback is that there are a few steps from the parking area to the door, and you need to carry your suitcase up about 10 steps.
