As dog lovers ourselves, we know how hard it can be to find pet-friendly holiday homes that welcome your family pooch!

Lake Tekapo in the legendary Mackenzie Country is a fantastic destination for dogs, offering plenty to do within a short distance of your holiday home. Pet-friendly walking and cycling tracks abound and the extensive Lake Tekapo Regional Park is right on your doorstep and even includes a fully fenced dog park. On leash dogs are welcome throughout the village centre and our walks page highlights other dog-friendly options in and around Tekapo and the Mackenzie.

After exploring, enjoy a coffee or bite to eat at one of the many village businesses welcoming your pooch at their outdoor dining area. Check out our list of Tekapo’s cafes & restaurants for those which offer outdoor seating where you can dine with your dog.

18 of our holiday homes welcome well-behaved house trained dogs, with accommodation options ranging in size, budget and luxuriousness. Dogs need to be booked in prior to arrival and we ask dog owners to follow a few simple rules while staying – further details can be found on our FAQs page.
