Olive Sanctuary is the perfect place to rest, rejuvenate & reflect in peaceful surroundings. Located within walking distance of the lakefront & Tekapo village, this modern, well designed home captures the sunrise over the Two Thumb mountain range, and the evening sunset over the Ben Ohau range. Full length windows allow you to take in the stunning views while staying cosy inside on cooler days, and two large decks provide the perfect space to soak up the warmth of the sunny days Tekapo is known for. On clear nights, the International Dark Sky reserve can be admired from the privacy of the deck.
Upstairs you will find the living spaces: a spacious kitchen, dining and living area that opens onto both decks, as well as a cosy media room where you can retreat to enjoy a movie. The living area is kept cosy with a heat pump and air conditioning, and a second toilet is available.
Downstairs are three well-appointed bedrooms, all equipped with panel heaters for winter, with two also featuring ceiling fans for the hotter summer months. The bunk room will be a favourite with children, as each bed has its own reading light and shelf for books and toys. A family-sized bathroom with shower & bathtub is located downstairs, along with full laundry facilities, including a front-loading washer and a heat pump dryer. A spacious entryway provides storage for shoes, boots and coats. The carport is available for storing ski gear in winter and bikes, kayaks and paddleboards in summer.
Ideally set-up for a family or small group, Olive Sanctuary has all you could wish for in a home away from home.

We had a great stay at Discover Tekapo Accommodation’s Olive Sanctuary property. The place was spotless, comfortable, and perfectly set up for a relaxing stay. The location is a huge plus — just a short walk to the town centre, making it easy to get to restaurants, shops, and the lake. They also recommended a local scenic flights company called Air Safaris, where we took a 50 minute scenic flight taking in the Tasman, Fox and Franz Josef glaciers, as well as Mount Cook, which we can’t recommend highly enough — an absolutely unforgettable experience! Everything was smooth and stress-free from check-in to check-out. Would happily stay here again and highly recommend to anyone visiting Lake Tekapo.

What a superb location and base for our stay – the house was warm and cosy in the cold but easy to cool down when it was warmer. We especially liked the upside down layout and the separate snug for cosy TV watching.

The most beautiful Airbnb we stayed during our trip. It’s located within a cluster of holiday homes but what stood out was it’s one of the very few double storey homes which opens up to a deck where we had BBQs. This gave us a 360 view of the sky which we utilised every day to admire the mountains and the gorgeous sunsets even in our PJs. You can’t see the lake from here. But it’s also very near the private spot we did our star gazing tour so that’s the plus. The rooms were clean and the place was well maintained. The kitchen was big and we cooked simple meals every day. I like how the rooms were on the ground floor so we didn’t have to carry our luggages up any stairs.

Such a lovely place to stay at. spacious and great view for star gazing – was even lucky enough to be able to capture a glimpse of the aurora through the camera! fuss free check in & check out. had a minor issue after checking in but the staff responded quickly despite it being after hours. a pity we were only able to stay for 2 nights! would definitely return 🙂

Lovely new house that our family of 6 stayed while we enjoyed Tekapo’s winter activities.

Awesome! It was an amazing stay! I was looking for a place with a bathtub, and this one came up. At first, I thought it might be too spacious for just me and my daughter, but choosing this place turned out to be absolutely the right decision. The facilities were new and clean, the kitchen was easy to use, and they provided not only cookware but also cooking essentials like oil, salt, and pepper. We could stargaze from the BBQ area accessible from the living room, and enjoy the sunrise from the dining room window. The staff were quick to respond and very kind. If I ever come back to Lake Tekapo, I would definitely want to stay here again.
